Description
Hi! This is Angie, a basic bipedal character rig made in Autodesk Maya 2019. It’s designed with a minimal amount of controls to be performant and easy to use, ideal for simple animation exercises.
When you first bring Angie into the viewport, you will be presented with her in her default t-pose. In the outliner you will find several different control sets categorized by different body parts. This allows the animator to set keys on a specific body part only or on all controls at once. Around her feet is the master curve used to place her in your animation scene. It is also used to toggle controls visibility.
Arms and legs have your typical IK/FK setup. You can blend between IK and FK while any control is selected, there you also have the ability to seamlessly switch between IK and FK, this is sometimes called IK/FK snapping. If you use the included picker file, courtesy of AnimSchool, by clicking on any of the IK controls will automatically and seamlessly switch your arm or leg to IK, and vice versa. Further more in IK mode, there’s a “softIK” attribute implemented to help reduce IK popping.
The spine consists of 3 controls, the COG or center-of-gravity control for general placement of the body, a hip control, and a chest control. They can be used like FK controls with just rotations, or you can move them around to simulate squash and stretch.
A basic face rig is also included. All of the face controls are on-surface push-and-pull controls that you can move around to sculpt your facial expressions. Some of the controls can also be rotated. Angie is free-to-use, free-to-distribute, for non-commercial purposes.
Any feedback suggestions and/or feature request will be appreciated. Thanks and happy animating!
